In “1852” French pioneers settled a unique spot on the steep slopes of the Mill Creek Valley between Mt. Hood and The Dalles, Oregon. With the success of fifty years of grape growing, they had the insight to expand and plant “The Pines Vineyard” in the early 1900s.

Fast forward to 1983, when Lonnie Wright found this abandoned vineyard of Zinfandel and nursed it back to life. Since then, Lonnie has taken “The Pines” beyond the Old Vine Zinfandel to include Merlot, Syrah and more Zin, all showcasing this spectacular site.

Dominio IV is Latin for a feast, and Spanish for territory or dominion. The IV refers to four people, four seasons, four climates, and four quadrants of the labyrinth. Our wines come from a place in the heart that is meant to bring together family and friends.

Columbia Valley Syrah
Two vineyards, Klipsun and The Pines, united in this wine like siblings, arm in arm and on tip toes trying to see who is taller. Together they form a natural smoothness of tannin, fine and spacious in its texture. Like the skin of ripe fruit holding its sweet flesh in, so too these tannins gently structure this wine. This yields the smoothness of blackberries matched with anise and agreeably subtle smoke.
